Rev. Canon Lauren Robbins Holder, Guest Celebrant & Preacher, May 20, 2018
We are pleased to announce that The Rev. Canon Lauren Robbins Holder, who grew up here in Lexington and who worshiped in this parish, will be with us to serve as our guest celebrant and preacher on Pentecost
Sunday, May 20, 2018, while Fr. James is on vacation. You may have known her as Lauren Robbins, the daughter of Kristy Hamilton and Steve Robbins. Canon Holder now lives in Atlanta with her husband, Jason, and their two children, Charles and Lucy Rae. She serves as the Canon for Outreach and Congregational Life at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Canon Holder graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and a concentration in Environmental Studies in 2003, received a Masters in Liberal Arts at St. John's College in 2006, and a Masters in Divinity at The General Theological Seminary in 2014. She previously served as a priest at Trinity Wall St. Episcopal Church in New York City, and as Associate Rector for Outreach and Pastoral Care at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta. She will preside and preach at both of the Sunday services and we hope you will be here to welcomeCanon Holder and family.
Our One Word, Wednesday, May 30, 5:30- 6:30 PM
Ladies, please join us for an hour of simple food, drink and conversation. We will focus on the word "Open" and explore if that word has or has not been at work in our lives that week. Bring a friend!
Rhythms of Grace, Sunday, June 3, 2 PM, Parish Hall
Rhythms of Grace is an imaginative and engaging worship service for children and families with or without special needs. A Rhythms of Grace service combines storytelling, arts and crafts, therapeutic play and a celebration of Holy Communion. Sharon Massie, will lead this service on Sunday, June 3, 2:00 PM, at the Grace Episcopal Church Parish Hall. The Rev. Anne Grizzle will celebrate Holy Eucharist. The Abundant Life Garden Project Community VBS, June 4-8
VBS will be held at Lexington Presbyterian Church, 120 S. Main Street, Lexington 9 AM to noon. Ages 4 to rising 6th graders. Good Shepherd Lutheran, Grace Episcopal, Lexington Presbyterian, Manley Memorial
Baptist and Trinity Methodist Churches are partnering this year to offer a community Vacation Bible School.
Our Abundant Life Garden Project will engage children with Bible stories, crafts, music and activities focused on water, seeds, soil, and harvest. During our time together we will celebrate our call to care for the earth and each other as members of God’s world-wide family. Helping us with hands-on projects will be staff from Boxerwood Nature Center. Special activities include mini-action trips to a local community garden, the Farmer’s Market and Woods Creek. Holy Eucharist and Parish Picnic at Lake Robertson, Sunday, June 17, 10:30 AM
We will gather at Lake Robertson with our friends from Good Shepherd Lutheran on June 17 for our ninth annual 10:30 service of Holy Eucharist under the pavilion. The service will be followed by a picnic. The church will provide chicken and drinks. Please bring your favorite salad, vegetable or dessert to share. Bring a lawn chair, too, and be ready for a fun-filled day! Hiking, swimming, fishing, and horse shoes are available. Come and enjoy the beautiful scenery in a peaceful and quiet setting. The 8 AM service will be in the church.
